SIP Fun in the Sun Safety Tips
- Babies under 6 months of age should be kept out of direct sunlight. Keep them shaded under a tree, umbrella or stroller canopy.
- Dress babies in lightweight clothing that covers arms and legs and use wide brimmed hats.
- Apply sunscreen to all children at least 30 minutes before going outside, even on cloudy days.
- Use sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15 ( D o not apply sunscreen to the hands of infants).
- Try to keep children out of the sun when the sun?s rays are strongest (between 10a-4p) .
- Never, never, never use tanning beds.
- If melanoma runs in the family, have kids checked routinely after puberty.
